OUR HOPE IS THAT, ONE DAY, EVERY AUSTRALIAN AFFECTED BY OVARIAN CANCER CAN SURVIVE AND THRIVE.

As we embark on the 2025 Witchery White Shirt Campaign in partnership with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), we're proud to have contributed $17 million to date to support ovarian cancer research in Australia. 100% of the gross proceeds from every OCRF White Shirt and OCRF White Jean sold goes directly to the OCRF to help fund research to prevent, detect and better treat ovarian cancer.

Now in its 17th year, the funds raised by Witchery have been instrumental in enabling the OCRF to fund promising research projects across Australia, raise awareness and advocate with government on behalf of future generations of women and girls.

In 2025, the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation is the largest independent funder of medical research in Australia and is currently supporting 26 projects in 10 institutions across the country.

The Witchery White Shirt Campaign has played a key play role in OCRF's impact, including:

  • Contributing over $17 million to the OCRF, enabling support for medical research into prevention, early detection and treatment for ovarian cancer.
  • Keeping dedicated and specialised medical research scientists, as well as attracting new scientists to the field
  • Forging international relationships with world leaders in ovarian cancer research to collaboratively accelerate solutions
  • OCRF-funded research has led to several pivotal discoveries, and a number of projects are moving into clinical trials.

  • Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynaecological cancer - investing in research is the answer to increasing the survival rate.
  • The average five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer is 49 per cent. Less than half of the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer today, will survive the next five years.

  • Due to the vagueness of the symptoms and the lack of an early detection test, most women are diagnosed at later stages, and at this point average five-year survival drops to 29 per cent.
  • An early detection test could help improve the survival rate to around 90 per cent.
  • Many ovarian cancer patients are still left with limited treatment options. Developing more targeted treatments will help patients live longer, healthier lives.
  • Ovarian cancer is a complex disease with more than 30 different subtypes making detection, prevention and treatment particularly challenging.
  • Ovarian cancer can affect women, girls and people with ovaries at any age - around 40% of cases diagnosed in Australia are patients under 60 years old.

The signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague or non-specific in the early stages, which is why it is often diagnosed late, when the disease has progressed to a more advanced stage.

The most commonly reported symptoms for ovarian cancer are:

  • Increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating
  • Abdominal or pelvic (lower tummy) pain
  • Feeling full after eating a small amount
  • Needing to urinate often or urgently

Additional signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer:

  • Changes in bowel habits
  • Unexplained weight gain or loss
  • Excessive fatigue
  • Lower back pain
  • Indigestion or nausea
  • Bleeding after menopause or in-between periods
  • Pain during sex or bleeding after

It is important to remember that these symptoms can be caused by other, less serious medical conditions. However, if you are experiencing any of these symptoms and they become persistent and worrying, you should see your doctor. They will be able to examine you and if necessary, do further tests.

We're thrilled to collaborate with Viktoria & Woods for our 2025 Witchery White Shirt Campaign. This year, Margie Woods, Founder and Creative Director of Viktoria & Woods, has designed our signature white shirt.

Margie has seen the first-hand impact of ovarian cancer following her mother Mona's diagnosis with the disease in 2023, and she was deeply moved by the chance to combine her love of fashion with a cause close to her heart.

"I couldn't be prouder of collaborating with a like minded, iconic Australian fashion brand on a cause that means so much to me personally, and to our community at large."
